Forjando el tiempo – Historia del metal en el Perú
Gabriela Germaná, Jaime Mariazza, Régulo Franco
The metallurgic roots of Peru date to prehispanic times, when different cultures developed advanced metal fusion, alloying, amalgamation, lamination, joining and welding techniques that they used to create pieces of great beauty for use in religious, political and domestic contexts. During the colonial period, metals maintained their symbolic value in the economic, social and religious environments –which intermingled in multicultural and pluri-ethnic exchanges. This book tells us how the indigenous metal workers used their ancient techniques for several centuries, and the way many of those techniques, after surviving the colonial period, are still used today with a creative spirit to produce historical and contemporary metallic works of art. The book’s prologue is written by Luis Repetto Málaga.
