An investigation by author Krzysztof Makowski that focuses on the reconstruction of beliefs and rituals that emerge from the analysis of material remains left by the cultures of ancient Peru. In the two introductory chapters, the weight of historical sources in the study of pre-Hispanic beliefs between the 11th and 16th centuries AD is evaluated, and in the following two, several cases are presented and discussed: Cupisnique, Chavín, and early Moche.
