Gods and Beliefs of Prehispanic Peru. Volume 2 (South Coast)
Krzysztof Makowski
An investigation by author Krzysztof Makowski that focuses on the reconstruction of beliefs and rituals that emerge from the analysis of material remains left by the cultures of ancient Peru.
In this volume, the author examines the cosmology and symbolic universe of the South Coast cultures—especially Paracas and Nazca—through an interpretation of iconography, ceremonial architecture, and ritual practices.
The study proposes a new reading of ancient images by identifying metaphors and metonymies associated with plants, animals, and ancestors, as well as their role in the sacred landscape. The work brings together 25 years of research by the author.
