Alejandro Balaguer is a journalist, photographer and author of documentaries. He has written several books and has been correspondent for several international magazines and news agencies, covering Latin America and the Caribbean for more than twenty years. He has produced photographic and TV documentaries in the Amazon jungle; the central American jungle; all over the Andes; the south American, equatorial and Antarctic seas and islands; Africa, Asia, India and the Himalayas. He is currently executive director of the Albatros Media Foundation, which is based in Panama. In Peru he is president of the Andes y Mares Association, and member of the Avina Foundation. His mission in these organizations is that of producing educational content and mass communication campaigns aimed at making people aware of the need to develop sustainable growth strategies that conserve nature, to revaluate the ancestral cultures and their traditions, and to expose the problems of poverty and child violence. In Panama he also produces and conducts the Al Natural (In the Nature) weekly TV program, which is aired in 35 channels all throughout Latin America. He also authors different mass media reports and spots, photographic exhibitions, books for children and educational campaigns.
